Concept project Fine cabinetmaking — Antwerp
Atelier Nord
A workshop selling one-off pieces: a table configurator with live pricing, a wood library, a portfolio and order tracking.

01The brief (imagined)
The starting point
Atelier Nord (fictional) is a three-person cabinetmaking workshop on the Antwerp quays. Its pieces are one-offs and its clients demanding — but everything relied on word of mouth and endless emails to price a simple table. The imagined brief: a website that shows craft and material, qualifies requests before the first call, and reassures clients during ten weeks of making.
02Goals
What the website had to achieve
- 01
Give a guide price in under a minute, without a form
- 02
Make people feel the wood: texture, tone, weight
- 03
Qualify every request (type, budget, timing) before the first conversation
- 04
Cut “how’s my table going?” emails with order tracking
03Research & inspiration
What we observed
- High-end craft websites rarely show prices: visitors leave without knowing whether they’re “in range”. Showing an honest range filters and reassures at the same time.
- Cabinetmaking clients buy a story as much as an object: workshop photos, makers’ names, where the wood comes from.
- Inspirations: timber merchants’ catalogues, workshop notebooks, the typography of 1970s exhibition posters.

06Key features
Built for the trade

01
Configurator with live pricing
Wood, shape, size, base, finish, edge: the table plan redraws in SVG, the price animates and the lead time adjusts. Configurations can be shared by link, saved to the client area and prefill the quote request.

02
Filterable portfolio
Filter by type and wood, a counter announced to screen readers, and a detailed sheet with size, finish, lead time and guide price.

03
Wood library
Six woods shown with a generated texture, hardness, stability and origin — plus a side-by-side comparator to help choose.

04
Making tracker
Six stages, progress photos, the payment schedule and documents: clients always know where their piece stands.
